For most patients, the cost is fully covered with your PPO dental insurance plan. Give Dr. Bracy a quick phone call or email, and his staff can let you know if your insurance will cover your cleaning. If you do not have insurance, don’t worry! The price for a dental cleaning is still transparent and affordable. Your NYC Dental Cleaning Visit
Although most patients’ chief request is to have their teeth cleaned, there will be many more valuable services provided at this visit. Your dental cleaning visit will include a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, an oral cancer screening, oral hygiene instruction, and any recommended dental x-rays.
To prepare for your dental cleaning visit, click on the forms link above and fill out your new patient questionnaires. This helps Dr. Bracy’s staff to file all your dental insurance claims and get to know your needs ahead of time. When you arrive at our new NYC dental office, you’ll experience no wait times and experience a boutique, stress-free environment.
You will meet with Dr. Bracy and thoroughly review your medical and dental history, discuss any dental concerns or needs as well as any cosmetic dentistry desires like veneers, bonding, and whitening. Dr. Bracy will then recommend any necessary dental x-rays for you. We strictly follow ADA guidelines for dental x-rays and do not believe in any unnecessary x-rays or dental x-rays for every patient at every visit.
Dr. Bracy will examine your teeth and gums and provide you with treatment recommendations.
Your teeth will then be thoroughly cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaning instrument and hand instruments, and finally polished. The cleaning accomplishes removing any plaque, tartar, and surface staining above and below the gum line.
Finally, it is important to receive feedback on your oral hygiene. Dr. Bracy can recommend the best electric toothbrushes and toothpaste for your needs. If you have any dental treatment needed, it can be scheduled at this visit, or easily on our website.
How Often Should I Have My Teeth Cleaned?
Regular dental cleanings are essential for healthy teeth and gums! For patients with good dental health, six-month intervals are recommended. However, many patients with gum disease, such as gingivitis and periodontitis, benefit from a more frequent schedule of three or four-month cleanings.
How Long Does a Dental Cleaning Take?
At the very minimum, one hour will be dedicated to your cleaning appointment. Dental cleanings are important and the foundation for healthy teeth and gums! Dr. Bracy does not believe in rushed or quick cleanings and dedicates ample time for comfortable, personalized dental care.
“Deep Cleanings” in West Village
Many times patients refer to, or ask about “deep cleanings.” This term usually refers to “periodontal scaling and root planing.”
This procedure is a non-surgical treatment for the gum disease, called periodontitis, and in cases of severe gum inflammation. This type of dental cleaning is needed when there is plaque and tartar deep below the gum line, or there is pocketing in the gum tissue. The dental hygienist needs extra time for this cleaning, and your gums will be numbed, so you do not feel a thing!
After your deep cleaning, you will be re-evaluated to see if your gum disease improved. In many cases, this non-surgical gum therapy is enough to halt the disease process. If further treatment is necessary, Dr. Bracy will work with you and a periodontist or gum disease specialist to resolve your issues. Healthy teeth and gums are as simple as visiting our NYC dental office!
Dr. Bracy is professional and caring
I'm sure we all had daunting dental appointment memories from the past, but I never had it again since I started visiting Dr. Bracy two years ago.
Dr. Bracy is professional and caring. The moment I walked into his office, I was greeted with smile which made me feel calm. Dr. Bracy always takes the time to explain and check how I am doing along the way. It's always nice to take a short break from work and see Dr. Bracy, knowing my dental health is in capable hands.
Another great thing about seeing younger dentist is that they have their hands around state-of-the-art equipment. You're paying the same price while getting top-notch service. I would recommend Dr. Bracy!

Frequently Asked Questions
It depends. Dental cleanings are important not only to your oral health, but also your overall health! A professional dental cleaning is one of the primary tools to fight the gum disease, called gingivitis, or puffy, inflamed, and bleeding gums. Deep cleanings and more frequent cleanings are also used in the non-surgical treatment of the gum disease called periodontitis, characterized by receding bone and gum levels.
How Often Do I Need a Dental Cleaning?
The frequency of a dental cleaning (technical term “prophylaxis”) is largely dependent on a personalized assessment of your teeth, gums, and oral hygiene by Dr. Bracy. Most patients with low-risk factors for dental disease can have their teeth cleaned every six months. However, for those with gum disease or poor oral hygiene, a cleaning schedule of every 3-4 months is a therapeutic must!
Some patients need a deep cleaning (technical term “quadrant scaling and root planing”) for their first cleaning at the office and then can switch to 2-4 per year. Your medical history also plays a role in determining how many dental cleanings you should have. Smokers, diabetics, and HIV+ patients are at higher risk for developing gum disease like periodontitis and should discuss the frequency and type of cleanings needed with Dr. Bracy.
Why Regular Cleanings are Important
A healthy mouth is an integral part of a healthy body! New research is demonstrating the link between oral health and cardiac and inflammatory disease.
